Channing Bete Company presents
The American Heart Association Community Training Grant Program
The AHA/Channing Bete Company Community Training Grant Program was established to recognize outstanding creativity in increasing community CPR/first-aid training.
The grants department invites all American Heart Association Training Centers to apply for a grant in order to implement new American Heart Association layperson training classes.
Fall 2008 Grant
AHA/Channing Bete Company Community Training Grant
Bystander CPR doubles survival rates. Recent data suggests that more emphasis should be placed on reducing the time from a collapse to the start of CPR. The American Heart Association's goal is to increase CPR training from the current 9 million people per year to 20 million people by the year 2010. As a distributor of American Heart Association CPR/ECC materials, Channing Bete Company is also committed to reaching this goal.
Applicants are asked to submit a proposal outlining a creative project for increasing the number of laypeople taught by their Training Center. Proposals should incorporate a detailed project description outlining what products will be used, in what fashion, the groups to be trained, and the estimated number of trainees.
Up to four successful applicants will each be awarded up to $2,500 in grant money toward the purchase of American Heart Association materials and other ancillary products (manikins, AED trainers, etc.) required for community training from Channing Bete Company.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
American Heart Association Training Centers that are interested in increasing the number of laypeople trained should apply. Special consideration will be given to Training Centers that use grant funds for the addition of new courses and/or to teach groups that they have not previously trained.
Only American Heart Association Training Centers are eligible. Applicants must provide their AHA TC identification number on the application. An applicant's organization will be responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes on the value of the grant and will be issued an IRS 1099 tax form.
Only one grant per person may be submitted. Training Centers may apply for a grant by submitting an application. (See REQUIREMENTS OF AWARD RECIPIENT below.)
