Family & Friends CPR Course
Anyone can be a lifesaver -- if information and opportunities to practice lifesaving skills are provided by a well-prepared instructor.
AHA's Family & Friends CPR course is a modular course for everyone from schoolchildren to older family members, caregivers, and other adults who care for people at risk of sudden cardiac death. Designed for large-scale community training events, Family & Friends CPR is not appropriate for use in place of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Layperson or the BLS Healthcare Provider courses.
It focuses on CPR and response to choking, gives information on AHA's adult and pediatric chain of survival, and helps participants:
- recognize signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking in adults
- recognize signs of choking in infants and children
- reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and prevent the most common fatal injuries to infants and children.
